When we were studying strict liability in torts, we read a lot of dog bite cases, because people are always held responsible when their dog bites someone. Then, for contrast, the professor assigned a cat scratch case. The court held the person scratched should have been nicer to the cat. No damages were assessed against the owners. I’m really not sure what we were supposed to take away from that, unless it was don’t mess with cats, the law is on their side.
I had a cat once that refused to even wear a collar. If you didn’t know any better, you would have thought he was possessed. If it wasn’t so tortuous for him, it would have been funny.

Cats aren’t really domesticated. They have human ‘staff’…

I’m not a cat person. What happens if you try to leash a cat?

In some states cats are not considered domesticatable.

Yup. Reality. I suppose that is why a good mouser is worth keeping around. Plague insurance with a tail.

I’ve walked cats on leash. It works best if you start them as kittens. Most older cats don’t take to the idea. Also, you need a special harness.
