As a mom, I refuse to pick up laundry off the floor. I don’t care if they wanted to wear it. If you want it clean, put it in the hamper. My son also has to take his own laundry to the laundry room and sort it. If he forgets, he does his own laundry that week.
All 3 of my sons seem to be the main laundry person of the household. One also does all the cooking; one does most of the cooking; and the third shares the duty. The times are changing.

I would have been punished for a) leaving dirty laundry on the floor and b) tossing anything from the door like that.

I do my own laundry, but I don’t worry too much about separating. Colors and whites, and don’t put anything made of cotton in the dryer.
