If he wasn’t planning on eating them all, why’d he open a large bag of cookies at a bar? Also, would he just happen to have a sealed plastic bag around? If not, then eating them or letting them go stale would be his options.
How about putting them in a tin, sending them back to the company who made them, and let them sort out the mess. The result might be a better productive gain than just simply one of weight. But then, Pig really wouldn’t be (a) pig, now would he? Hence, going Pigsty(le).
In the humid Gulf Coast area where I grew up, Ginger Snaps not in airtight containers would eventually soften from crisp/snappy to chewy. As a kid, I preferred the chewy texture and my mother loved the crispy. She’d but two boxes, keep one fresh for herself and unseal the inner wax paper bag in the other box for me. They’d be just right about ten days after opening. I still do the same thing today.
I worked in a grocery store and there always a bag or two of torn or opened cookies to salvage. Of coarse that was before people did stupid and mean things.

In the last panel, Pig was drawn by Robert Crumbs.

It was the environmental thing to do. If he used a plastic bag, it would have ended up in the ocean.

Your promotion of single use plastics is going to kill the planet – lol – PIG saved us all

The “rule” is that you are allowed to eat the broken ones; I guess they were all broken.

Why do they even bother to put expiration dates on junk food? It never lasts that long.

The pile of cookies looks 3x as large as the bag. It’s usually the other way around.
