More parents need to take a few minutes to teach their kids how to perform the basics of working with their hands (carpentry, cooking, sewing, auto maintenance, etc). So what if their results aren’t perfect, that’s how they learn.
Stories like this one remind me of spending hours with my dad working in the garage on one thing or another. My brothers didn’t have any interest, but I sure did.
This is actually a very good bird house for a kid who is essentially operating with no help at all. The parts have gone together to make a solid structure and the nails appear to be in the right places even if they are not all hammered in. Unfortunately the joke is, once again, John laughing at Elizabeth’s incompetence as a builder who cannot figure out where the front of her bird house is.
