I know from experience, it’s better to send him than to go myself. Hubby will go into the store, look at the number on the end of the spool, grab the thread and come home. I will go into the fabric shop and, well, let’s just say it’s as bad as the library, if not worse!
But is it gender that makes the difference, or rather the level of interest in the product? When traveling with my husband the garlic grower, he can never just stop to buy a bulb of of garlic at a farm or road-side stand – it will be be 15 minutes for sure. Whereas for me, book, gardening, and toy stores are the big time-gobblers.

I go to a shop with a list in my head…..see all the goodies….then immediately forget the list. Guess I should remember to write things down…
