The key to bagpipe listening is not stand too close. I like the way they sound on recordings. AND I have heard them in a live performance & still liked it. Maybe a proof of reincarnation….

Bagpipes are very touching at a funeral. Lovely music, they are NOT. Although I’m partly Scottish and Irish too, I don’t enjoy piping, step dancing or even corned beef and cabbage. The latter is better - fried cabbage with sour cream (Hungarian style).

A regrettable orchestra: Bagpipes, accordions, kazoos, tubas, Jew’s harps, grass blades, recorders, kitten xylophone, and vuvuzelas.
You don’t want to be around when they tune the instruments. They do tune them.

Coyoty, is that anything like PDQ Bach’s Safe sextet, for piccolo, English horn, bass clarinet, contrabassoon, harp & celesta?
That is: a modified woodwind quartet, plus the harp and celesta.
