Reminds me of in the movie FARGO when Harve Presnell said to William H. Macy “I don’t want you mucking things up,” then proceeded to muck things up himself!
Looking at the drawing, I can only imagine the motor fits inside the beanie. Putting an electric motor in close proximity to a kid’s hair is someone just begging for a lawsuit.
If he does manage to assemble and power it, what will happen when he takes it to school? Will Susie be impressed? Will Miss Wormwood take it away? Will Moe destroy it?
Remember, all the commutator windings go the same direction, no exceptions, and if wound the wrong direction the beanie will fly away. (Let’s not even talk about AC motors, unless your cat has invented an AC battery [long sought by Nikola Tesla].)

Isn’t Calvin’s dad a patent attorney? Maybe he could replace the broken part with a better quality part.
Jesy Bertz Premium Member almost 6 years ago
Now Calvin will have to wait another six weeks for the replacement part to arrive.

A. Poor thing
B. His look in the last panel is hilarious

Hobbes just said what he said to make Calvin break it.
jpayne4040 almost 6 years ago
Yeah Calvin, you definitely should have let Hobbes try it!

It’s Monday, shouldn’t Calvin be in school?

Never, ever insult a tiger. You’re just asking for trouble when you do.

I knew that if it required assembly, Calvin would foul it up.

Umm, where’s dad?

It’s true with insulting a tiger!

There’s probably a real proverb like that somewhere.

Calvin’s fingers are not made to deal with small, fragile parts! ;o}

This was me this past weekend, following the cheerful, inadequate directions to install a replacement battery in my tablet.
Anybody want to buy a dead tablet?

I have to admit, that “snap” hurt me too. I’ve looked forward to the arrival of this beanie right along with Calvin. :-(

Well, so much for Calvin’s first solo flight.
Doug Taylor Premium Member almost 6 years ago
Just as well. If Calvin had managed to assemble it he probably would have put the batteries in backwards and screwed himself into the ground!
DanWolfie almost 6 years ago
Heh, Calvin looks kind of like Beaker of the Muppets in the last panel!
