Maybe so, Mom, but there isn’t much pleasure in petting it. Furry things who like to play are much better.

That makes it sound cooler than it actually is (although turtles are pretty cool pets).

So true, Heart. That’s part of their charm.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Does it really solve the problem to give a child a pet she doesn’t want?

Dinosaurs were actually the direct decedent of birds.

Natural Selection… that term still makes me laugh.

If Heart doesn’t want the turtle, I see that as a red flag for the health of the pet.

Turtles were around when dinosaurs were the top dog.

Nothing wrong with turtles Heart, they are good pets…I had many of them.

I bet Heart is the first kid on her block to own a member of Congress.

Pretty cool comments. I had an earth turtle and it was tough to create good consistent conditions for hibernation. So after five years or so we gave her to a specialist but she was cool. Hope she is still around.
