WHAT? Have children put effort into their own education? They have to… to…. turn pages and read!

    How cruel can you be????

Anyone wanna buy a set of Britannicas? I’ll throw in a dozen each Yearbooks and Science updates for free. You pay shipping. (I really need to learn how to use eBay someday.)

On the other hand, reading about the coming ice age does give one perspective.

As a child, my encyclopedia from Mom stopped when the Hood was the greatest ship and cars were model T Ford, with only one world war. Good on ancient history and religion!

Plods with Beer, what the hey is a “Nook?”

Jolly1995, there’s a difference between being not taught a subject (as today) and being taught lies and misleading, incomplete facts (as was done in history classes 40 years ago).

tedcoop: Assuming you’re serious regarding what a “Nook” is … I’ll answer it seriously for you.

It’s an e-Reader from Barnes and Noble (similar to Amazon.com’s Kindle). Nook’s, Kindle’s and other e-Readers are not exactly inexpensive electronic gadgets but if you really enjoy reading, something like this would be excellent to have (especially if you don’t have shelf room for books in your home or apartment) because some e-Readers can hold up to a couple thousand books inside that one little device.

I really wanted a Kindle this year for Christmas but unfortunately, I didn’t get it. However, my husband now knows that it’s on my wish-list so I’m hoping he’ll remember to get me one for Christmas 2011!

Chrismaple: I’ve heard worse pronunciations, thanks.

    Pschearer: What are you asking?
