    Well, obviously it’s easier to strip mine the mountaintops after you’ve sold the trees to a paper company, and the paper can be used for handouts in which your company brags about how eco-savvy it is.

    Here in Oregon, they care about public opinion. When a hill is clear cut, they leave a curtain of tall trees along the highway so we can’t see what was done. Fly over and you will be amazed at how much of our state has been denuded of timber.
