You don’t even need any certain text to perform a wedding…
whether it uses any well-known wording is according to the beliefs and comfort level of the participants
Â
As the officiant, as long as you have legal standing to perform the ceremony….
(and a mail order minister may or may not have that, according to state laws…)
and the bride and groom have a marriage license, if required by the state, and have performed or provided any required documentation, blood tests, or waiting time…
Â
You or they can read or improvise some sort of vows stating that they wish to marry, are free to do so, (ie not under pressure, or already married,) and promise not to marry anyone else while married (ie, forsaking all others…. )
and you pronounce them married…
They’re married.
Â
Last time I checked, California, if that’s where they are, requires a previously obtained license, and two witnesses.

Disclaimer: Comic characters must adhere to a completely separate set of rules, and state law may or may not apply.
The cartoonist has final say in this matter.
His character’s marriages are valid as long as they don’t step outside the confines of their strips, for any appreciable amount of time.

Hope it isn’t Jewish. I doubt Sid could read it, his father the rabbi notwithstanding.

So, not stolen as such, but borrowed while no one is using it, possibly without permission.
