Don’t ever fill out a contest entry, either…

    Maybe it sounds legitimate….

but whether it’s a drawing for a new SUV at the mall, a booth at the fair promising an “Aloha Vacation” or even a church group raffling “Three nights at Motel 6 in Poughkeepsie”…

Whoever collected your data is now legally entitled to call you for telemarketing purposes, send you mail, and usually, sell your information….

and usually they do, though it may be for a totally different purpose.

Also, I once made a small memorial donation, as requested, to a respectable animal charity….

and my inbox and my physical mailbox were both flooded for years….

one with spam, the other with with brochures, calendars, address labels and other pitches from dozens of other animal welfare groups, some obviously bogus.

THREE different “organizations” featured the same exact photo of a scrawny, tattered lion…. each giving him a different name, location, and tale of woe.

Sadly, it made me leery of making donations.

If I do so now, it’s almost always anonymously.

Who the heck is answering spam ads and telemarketers? They are the ones that are the problem. If no one answered they wouldn’t exist!!! One idiot here needed a loan and sent them the $1500 they wanted to give HIM a loan. Can’t get much dumber than that. Yes, they can, some college student sent $6900 of gift cards to the “IRS”. Not only did she waste $6900, she is wasting every penny her parents are paying for her college as she hasn’t learned anything.

They prey on those of us that have diminished faculties. I hope I never get to the point that I don’t recognize their intent, but I am getting older and I’m not as sharp as I use to be. Not a day goes by that either my wife or I pick up the phone and hang it back up without even saying hello. If it is a legitimate caller, we figure they will call back.

Best not check you mailbox Monty. Your postman will get a hernia with all the “special offers” coming your way.

When my wife and I were on vacation in Hawaii, the 2 most persistent come-ons we got were from (1) people trying to sell us timeshares and (2) people trying to tell us how to get out of our timeshares.

Meddick has given his readers a short tutorial and, except for the artwork, it is not funny. Good to read the comments here.

You don’t have click on an ad, just ordering something from a seemingly reputable source can get on mailing lists from other company. We don’t give out your information, bull!!

The art of humorous cartoons lies in their very slight exaggeration of the Real World….

Yeah, and when they IGNORE the signs in your neighborhood that say “No Soliciting”, and then tell you that they have a permit—you KNOW they are filthy liars, and just casing the joint!
