They must be feeling a little crabby.

Shouldn’t there be a rubber tree nearby? Not those kinds of rubbers, but the ones for the elastic bands to keep their pincers shut!

So instead of giving it water, maybe a couple of pounds of melted butter will nourish it?

We had a crab apple tree in the yard when I was growing up, and I always pictured exactly this.
