Got caller ID, if I don’t recognize the caller, no answer. Now they are scamming the Caller ID with places I deal with. I stopped answering them, if it is important they’ll leave a message. Yes, I have a landline. I give out my landline number when I need to and it gets the scam calls, not my cell. Worth the money.
Locally they are spoofing Social Security’s phone number and the police dept in the next county. Problem is that every time something is done to stop the calls, they find a way around them. CSPAN 3 has had a number of hearings/discussion shows about this and phone co/government are just as frustrated with the situation – they get the calls also you know.
Dumbest thing – I cannot understand how anyone could fall for having to buy gift cards or I-Tunes cards to deal with whatever the problem is suppose to be from the scammers. IRS wants to be paid in I-Tunes cards? The electric utility needs to be paid in I-Tunes cards? Really?!!!! Anyone who falls for same has to be the dumbest people in the world.
We got a phone call at 4 am the other night just as we were going to bed. Boy, do I wish it was a robocall as husband thought it was. It was the police. My mom called them because “her neighbors were talking about killing her”. So we ended up spending the rest of the night at the hospital and my sister came in the am to take over. Mom is a medication – and trying to go home from sister’s house before med is working. Really, really wish it had been a robocall.

Sergio in the final panel reminds me of the comic book shopkeeper in “The Simpsons” (and I have to agree with him).

I usually ask them if their mothers know what they do, and are they proud.

Sad thing is, he probably would get at least one from those 400 calls.

A scammer who tells the truth? Now I KNOW this is fiction!

It’s a case of quantity vs quality. Out of 400 calls , he might just get one number, or law enforcement.

6% response is the rule of thumb (6 out of 100, so on..)
