Rutabaga Ratatouille, are you serious? I didn’t just fall off of the turnip truck.

I’m right there with Janis. Give me stereotypical American food every time, the kind that some Manhattanites and foodies disdain.

When my mother was cooking rutabaga, i had to leave the house!

I don’t get it. Aren’t they visiting their son? Doesn’t he have a cafe? This one is puzzling. Oh well on to the next comic.

I’ll take the rutabaga and pasta.

How do you feed burgers grass?

Either this isn’t very funny or it’s too esoteric for me!

What? No root vegetable medley?

The rutabaga ratatouille sounds interesting.

Except for the egg business, this arc has been kind of a downer so far. The only “gag line” here is that Janis understands that with things so bad all they’d be able to afford is grass fed beef.

Not funny, not even interesting.

Beef Medalions w/a tangy American sauce (Cheese burgers)

An admirable enterprise by those kids, and it will probably work out well in a few years, but I wish they hadn’t given up “The Landing”. That place really had character, and it did a booming business. They could have gradually added their locally sourced cuisine, while keeping the original business going.

“I’ll have the veggie burger with extra kale and a slice of tofu, a side of Brussels sprout fries, and a glass half full of disappointment, please.”

I thought ratatouille was just for rats.

actually I learned years ago Rutabega is a tasty sweet root vegetable. I dunno if a root would work as a base in ratatouile, but sure like to find out.

I’d like to try both of the specials…I love rutabaga, collard greens, and oysters.

an aside…how did that boy marry a woman who is as ugly as janis? they could be mother and daughter
