Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I had to give George back to my niece yesterday. I was very brave, I didn’t cry till I left her house. I really miss him, we really bonded. But he wasn’t my kitty to keep. Twig doesn’t know he’s gone yet, she hasn’t lain on my lap while I’m on the computer yet or lay on my lap for 5 minutes, bite me and leave. I’m sad. :’(
I’m disappointed that I didn’t get my splat. On the other hand, it seems as though there is nothing seriously wrong with Chesney and he is back to his usual lovable self.
I have been symptom free since April 1 (no fooling). I have lost 11 pounds in 14 days on an estimated 1800 calorie very restricted diet. But I am following the physical therapy exercises and I am getting stronger every day. Yesterday the occupational therapist had me walk all over my house and said that I didn’t need to use a walker anymore except on bad days. I plan to ask my doctor at the end of the month about going back to a normal diet.
Alpha Cat is enjoying the late winter/very early spring weather. He’s out a lot on patrol and we’ve also seem him dancing for simple joy in life down the middle of the road. Once it gets too warm in late spring he’ll just dig a trench in a quiet shade spot amongst the pines and settle down there.
Skunk Watch – two out of four of Alpha Cat’s adopted (the story of how this came about has been told here already) baby skunks have survived the winter. AC, the two small skunks and a collection of Alpha’s loyal local feline vassals were spotted all together on the front porch yesterday sharing a bowl of mackerel, kibble and raw egg.
Update – the skunks are both female (you can tell from a distance just like with unfixed cats) and small at 4-5lbs and were sunning themselves on the front porch this morning with Alpha Cat sitting on the swing keeping a benevolent eye on them.
We have to figure out a modus vivendi with these two little guys now there’s a biochemical warfare element in Alpha’s growing army.
We’ll have to see how the Empire of the Iron Paw develops this spring…
Great all around news- We have a new shelter lady. Robin got the job !! (the “other one” is retiring in Aug) Robin is awesome- everything you want in a shelter master. She’s kind, supportive of the foster program, wants the animals to go to the right homes, etc. Something happened today and I was sure I’d be in trouble when I called over there to tell them I turned down a potential adopter and why. Robin said not at all – it was my decision and she fully supported it.

Well I can see a bang on the head hasn’t improved his disposition any.

One kitten went to his new home this morning. His new dad was so anxious to come and get him he called to see if he could come an hour early.

Saw two ducks in the swamp behind my house yesterday. Didn’t see any flying cats, though.
