At least he promptly admitted it. But it does seem like the kids are going overboard.

Maybe Gene got it on sale. One of the stores here has leg of lamb on sale. Still too pricy for me though. I like lamb with mint jelly. I’ll go Tues. and see if it’s a little lower.

Does Arlo still have the boat?

It IS a restaurant. Roast lamb is “Today’s Special.” Hopefully, Gene plans to sell it all at a profit. Arlo is a Master Chef, this should work. If not, this is why God made refrigerators, they will eat well on leftovers. Arlo’s question is not rude, he is just asking what a lag-o-lamb sells for in the back woods of Mississippi (?), not what Gene spent for personal property.

This visit has started odd rather uncomfortably. I wonder where Jimmy J is going with it?

I never eat lamb or veal. I think it is cruel to kill a baby animal when they are only 16 weeks old.

I think Arlo needs to be their Chief Financial Officer.

On of the things I love about this strip is how real it is. Yeah, this is a genuine Dad sort of comment, complete with apology.

This is parental thinking, it comes with the territory. If his children weren’t involved, it probably would have been more like, ‘Can I afford this?’. At least he caught himself.

Friend of mine’s mother could make a great leg of lamb. For their family cookbook one of the younger sons wrote the easy two step recipe:

1) Buy leg of lamb

2) Tell Mom Jim (the oldest son) was coming to dinner
