There’s artists and then there’s Calvin.

Especially cartoonists…

Seems your father told you about the Birds and the Bees and that you were hatched from an egg. It looks as if your feet came out and your still in your egg shell.

But will it fly?

Calvin’s artwork will improve. Later Sunday strips will show his drawings of himself which will be much more recognisable. They will be in colour so they will show his corn-coloured hair and his striped jersey.

Art historians in 200 years will refer to his unique artistic style as “Calvinism”.

He looks more like a potato to me… and he seems to be sprouting.

I’ve heard of helicopter parents, but…….

It’s a walking potato that Spaceman Spiff brought back from the planet Zog. I can tell from the one antennae.

Reminds me of what my Vasectomist sees every day.

I would say Calvin’s drawing is notable for the mouth..it seems to be stitched shut, indicating Calvin feels inhibited in what he says, compared to what he actually thinks. And this actually is demonstrated in the strip, since Calvin’s mouth gets him in trouble a lot.

He looks like Ike from South Park.

Strips like this make me wish to spend an hour with Bill Watterson. I would love to talk with the person who thought of this genius.

Hobbes is a better artist than Calvin!

I write code. And after a few years even I don’t understand it. Every once in awhile, I re-grok it and am amazed. Some proportion of the times I do that, the amazement is “wow, that was damn’d clever”. I leave it to you to imagine what the size of that proportion is.
