My dogs used to do that as well. Wipe their muzzles off on me. Wipe their eyes as well. I suspect it is not so much a sign of love but of trust that you won’t mind helping them feel more comfortable. Still a little disgusting though.
I had friends whose Bouvier des Flandres had a neurological condition that made his face itch horribly. Poor guy would rub his face all over everything & everyone, trying to ease the itch. Unfortunately it also made him very slobbery, which in a 120-lb. dog is just YUCK!
My dog is the opposite. She has a beard, which holds copious amounts of water, but she hates when I try to dry it off. (If I don’t, it drips cold water all over me. Brrrrr.)
I had an experience with dog drool when I visited my granddogs. The bigger one was let out of her kennel and she sat quietly until her “brother”, a French bulldog, came over to steal her thunder. She jumped up and put her paws on me, then he came closer. Then all Heck broke loose. She started to lick me, pushed me over and licked my face repeatedly, leading to her being put back in her kennel again, before I drowned. She’s part pit bull, part boxer and a little ancestral Shih Tzu. Not a small dog. It was quite the doggo experience. Thankfully, no pictures…

You think you’re “dad.” Your pet thinks you’re “towel.” Kiss?

Could be worse. Some dogs are poop eaters.

All my dogs have done this. I’m just a great big napkin.

The trick is to not think too hard about where that muzzle’s been.

Another situation when us humans are handy to have around.
