She’s a teacher, so probably good with math, so probably the blackjack ones as well.

Sometimes she can surprise you, Caulfield! Personally, I love it when Mrs. Olsen wins one of their “games”.

Why should anyone be surprised at the depths of knowledge of any teacher, especially one who teaches multiple disciplines? They, just as with anyone else, have lives and interests outside their daily work, including the life experiences they have encountered over the years. Many of my students never knew of my military experiences, early music training, amateur dramatics, or interest in literature and history, although I used all of those and more in the classroom. They see all of us as one dimensional, and limited only to that persona we must maintain in the classroom in order to concentrate their focus on subject matter.

As I get older, I like these “the old person’s a lot smarter than you thought s/he was now, isn’t s/he” storylines. I still remember watching “The Breakfast Club” and all of a sudden thinking the assistant principal had a point.

If she were really that good at poker. She would be welcome in Vegas because poker is not played against the house, but against other players, and her winnings would dwarf her teacher’s salary.

I remember hearing “Fanfare” as the opening to the CBS sports show on Saturday morning. Great piece of music that inspired a lot of composers.

http://www.gocomics.com/frazz/2019/05/23I learned this from my long and mixed and still ongoing sports career, much more from watching my faster friends than from my my own experience, but some combination of the two:

When you start to get pretty good, there are two ways you can go. You can stick around and win more, or you can travel farther to get trounced. Which one you favor reveals a lot about you, and only a little about your travel budget.
