Everyone has to walk their own path. I am pretty sure the people I know who hit a wall in their path saw it coming and other people told them it would happen, but they just kept going. Sad, that.
It’s beyond some people to see why others could possibly be angry. After riots in the 60’s news reporters (not talking heads) went into neighborhoods and asked people what they needed and wanted. 3 universal answers: jobs in the area that paid living wages, good schools for their children, and decent, liveable housing. 50 years later (that’s half a century, got it now?) on the anniversary reporters went back and asked what the community needed and wanted. Do you want to guess what the universal answers were? Damn right there’s a reason to be mad. Those aren’t handouts people want, those are basic needs and rights. People who just want to work, learn, live, and to be left alone. Just like everybody else.
Not using the most persuasive approach, Ray. Try this: “Not only do we have the biggest, best-armed gang in town, they provide us with great gear and hot rides, and we can shoot anyone we want without having to worry about it.”
I see one big problem already. Ray is trying to do something positive, yet “mom” makes like he is doing something wrong. I’d be hitting the door and leaving her and that miserable brat to their mutually destructive codependency.
I’m sick of this thread already. “Those neighborhoods” produce plenty of perfectly decent people. This kid is a punk, and he momma be a ho. Get out, Ray !
There are very few local grocery stores because the locals keep on robbing them. Companies won’t set up shop near these places because it’s dangerous for employees and expensive to operate there. Want you car broken into or hijacked — move to one of these neighbourhoods. You are surrounded by your own worst enemies and no one will rescue you.

There is no peace for you here, Ray; and you will not allowed to do the good you might. What do we do with stupid? Walk away.
