When I was a kid, I saw TONS of stars in the sky. But as I got older, I started seeing fewer and fewer. I don’t know how much of that is due to more light pollution (I just live in a small village – about 1600 people) or how much has to do with worsening eyesight due to age.
My small town of 650 is 15 miles from the next small town, yet I see a blacker sky and more stars after a 10 minute drive out into the desert to the east or the Sierra to the west. BTW, what is Annie doing at the warehouse so late? Aren’t her grandparents worried? Is it safe to walk home? Annie and the kitties have become real and we worry about them!!
I believe the number of stars is called a googlplex. (In 1940, the mathematician Edward Kasner published the book “Mathematics and the Imagination”, in which he popularized the words googol and googolplex which his nephew suggested as names for big numbers.)

It can be pretty amazing to get way way away from city lights and view the sky. Unfortunately the warehouse seems to be in the city.

Fortunately for me, here in northernmost Maine we often get to see the Milky Way and night skys filled with stars. Truly beautiful.

I live in the country, so I can see lots of stars when it’s clear. Unfortunately, I also live in the Pacific Northwest, so it’s not always clear.
