I always started school after Labor Day. Families used to vacation in August and the college kids had jobs at the summer resorts. What happened?? Now the schools have had to install A/C or else close early in the day because of the heat. We had big fans in some of the classrooms. The nuns could stand the heat wearing their long, black woolen habits, so the kids couldn’t complain about it either.
That reminds me of the Staples commercial in which they’re playing, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” with the parents are very happy pushing a shopping cart and their children having their heads down walking slowly behind them. It was a back to school commercial. LOL! Big Time!

I feel the same way when I see a Christmas commercial before Halloween.

Ever since I saw Walmart put out Christmas items before they put out their Halloween items, I’ve been numbed to this.

The way it gets passed over, it makes Thanksgiving almost a non-holiday.

I was shopping today and they’re already setting up Toyland.

I was in a drug store on Fourth of July a few years back, and they were putting the Back to School aisle together. Summer ends on July 5.

Where I live, school restarts August 26…so no big surprise if they would be showing “back to school” stuff…

That’s just how I feel about the news constantly talking about “The Great Minnesota Get Together” State Fair. Bleah!

I didn’t think kids were allowed to make calls from camp, though I could see taking their cellphones away, forcing them to use landlines…

Yup…I’ve seen ads for back to school right around the 4th…the kids around here have only been out of school for 2 weeks.
