When I started for the postal service as a city carrier many years ago I worked every holiday including Christmas. There was always a crew getting ready for the day after a holiday. Double the mail

It is sad that our nation does not fold up shop to celebrate its independence as back in the 60’s. I also miss the “Blue Laws”. I do appreciate all those in medical & emergency positions, volunteer fire fighters, nursing home workers, etc. that work on this day.

Been there, done that.

I never go anywhere on the weekend of the Fourth; week before, week after. This year it’s after. Working a beer fest on the 7th, sore feet, free pizza, leftover beer, did I mention sore feet?

you can thank our gov’t for fleecing us at every moment of our lives for the meager pay we get to earn a holiday off. It’s turn and burn baby for the work force.

you thought you wanted a career. Turns out all you want is paychecks.

I have the 4th off, but will work Labor Day & Thanksgiving Day just for the double time.

Yes you do, it’s called pay.

That’s pretty rich coming from a guy whose job is to sit at home drawing cartoon animals for maybe an hour a day at the most.
