Chances are slim that Paige will produce something in a similar vein.

No, Paige would write about how Romeo could have looked hotter.

Paige will focus on Juliet’s wardrobe.

And, as I recall, Peter is in advanced English class?

Our class read “Romeo and Juliet” in Grade 11. The teacher got a movie version of it to show us. But I don’t think she watched it first – it was the one in which we see teenaged Juliet naked. Just the thing to show a roomful of 16 year old boys! But I think that would have met Peter’s request that she look hotter!! (Finally, a way to get kids interested in Shakespeare…)

I wonder for the movie at the end of their unit, if they will show Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo+Juliet, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

Ew, I hope not, DVP218. That was the WORST version of the classic story that I’ve ever seen (although, ironically enough, the only movie in which I could actually stand Leonardo DiCaprio.) Not even Paige deserves that kind of torture!

And, twypsi, Paige is two years younger than Peter. ANY English class he’s in would naturally be more advanced than hers – besides, Andy threatened to pull him out of that class for putting ideas into Jason’s head regarding Kafka and nightmares.

I substituted as an English teacher a couple years ago and had to show the Zeferelli version of R&J. I made a point of warning the class that there would be some nudity in today’s portion of the film, and finished up by advising: “but it’s a pretty short scene, and you’ll have to pay attention or you’ll miss it!”

The boys still managed to miss the topless-Juliet scene, because they all turned away and made exaggerated gagging noises at the preceding scene of Romeo’s unclothed behind. Teenage boys…
