If anyone remembers the “snowy” static TVs back in the day, Andy is more likely getting “sandy” static on his make-shift one.

@Number Three Today’s strip is slightly funny our Hero Mr Andrew Capp , sober again , is bored at the beach , so he pretends that the sand TV is real , but Andy should be lying on a couch :o) , my avatar makes fun of James Bond having a licence to kill but the cop wanted his driving licence , which reminds me that for me renewing my driving licence is taking a long time :o{, how was your day? ours should be busy , but not hectic I hope. BCNU pal.

It might be more interesting than what’s actually on TV!

As husklecoach says, I thought they said “telly” over there in merry old England.

He’s probably getting better programming than what on the actual telly.

I like watching TV, but given a choice between the two, I’d gladly choose spending a day at the seashore.

Maybe Andy was inspired by the 2019 Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival, which was just held here in MA over the last weekend of July. Can’t find a link to a specific picture, but there was a sand TV. And it did Andy one better by including a real TV.

Sculpting that sand statue is the most work that Andy Capp has ever done.
