Thanks, Mr. Cavna. A most sensitive and evocative salute to a hero of many – a Buddy.

Second panel reminds me of the statement Woodie Guthrie applied to his guitar: “This machine kills fascists.”

Ever been to his home in Albuquerque? It’s worth a visit.

    Miss you, Ernie. #RIP

    What a poignant message.

When diplomacy fails, the diplomats should be made to fight it out.

A guy whose eyes were wide open and who could ably convey what he was experiencing. I’ve got several books of his cartoons, and I can almost feel the war around me when I look at them. Shakespeare characterized the world as a stage and all of us merely players. Ernie had the heart of a sharp but loving observer who found himself in media res and could make us laugh and grind our teeth at the same time. R.I.P. Thanks, Michael—great art!

Yeah, I mean wars have only stopped slavery, genocide, ended dictatorships, and driven many technology advances, telegraphs, radio, plasma (the blood type), advancements in medical treatments, the birth of republics and democracy, etc… So while we are at it let’s just go back to the pre nation-state way of living.
