Elly is in front of the typewriter and she has bitten the pencil in her mouth in two because:
1. She’s typing and she doesn’t need a pencil.
2. Judging from her hands, she clearly does not have the ability to put those fingers on home row and type anything.
3. Pencils are yummy.
4. The drugs just kicked in.
5. Elly has little-to-no appreciation for the fine art of kitchen floor dancing.
6. Elly thought Elizabeth was busy in the kitchen stomping on mice.
7. Elly always thought it was spelled, “SQUEAK!”
8. Elly heard that school was starting this week and she wonders why Elizabeth is not in school instead of bothering her, but then she realized it was Labour Day, and has bit the pencil in half to show her defiance of Labour Unions.
First things first, Elizabeth. Find some Asprin and get a glass of water to soothe mom’s nerves that have been frayed by all those “squeaking” noises you just did.;-D
Lynn’s Comments: When I was a kid, I knew where every squeaky floorboard was in the house. Dancing about on them really annoyed my mom. This strip was done for her.
So , howtheduck, do you find it necessary to analyze every Lynn Johnston comic? It is a comic I signed up just to say that. You need a real life. Not living in the shadow of Ellie Patterson.
A couple of days ago (when Mike is daydreaming) someone commented that because there was a “spine line” showing on Martha that it meant she was probably naked. Today Liz has a very definite spine line showing through her pretty pink shirt. Oh my, what can that mean?

I think Elly can already tell, Elizabeth, without you vocally telling her.

Not only has Elizabeth found the squeaky spot, she’s probably making it worse.

If you can pinpoint the squeaky spot, simply go to the basement to that exact spot and force a small shim between the floor board and the support!

I have an amazing spot in the wooden floor in our second story bedroom. I love stepping on it to make it squeak a few times.
