My son had to deal with the maze of trailers, $12K in property tax and he had to go to school going from trailer to trailer. He’s a senior in college now, but his old school still has the trailers.
Slowly I climbed the gallows stairs. Step by agonizing step and all the time wondering how I had gotten here; I had just stopped to ask for directions…
Over the years I have found that ‘temporary trailer classrooms’ become ‘permanent’ classrooms. It’s the same way with hurricanes. I moved to Charleston ten years after Hugo, and each section or suburb had it’s own ‘Hugo Permanent Housing Area’ consisting of FEMA trailers.
