Like the blog entry I posted yesterday, this shows another from a little over 10 years ago showing the strip characters as they were before the strip:

when was the last time Alice attended (or saw) a wedding and saw the flower girl throw flowers at people’s faces?
In her imagination, like so many things.
See? Madeline knows you can’t tie down a banjo man.
She has lots of practice, using mulch as a substitute for petals.
Timmy and Miss Bliss can’t get married until they get the honeymoon down right. Practice, practice, practice.
She’s doing it Alice style.
At least she doesn’t want to throw mulch.
Yes Alice Dear, just remember it’s flowers for the wedding and napalm for the divorce…
Little Alice practicing to become a fighter.
My son was the flower… kid at my wedding and definitely chucked flowers at people’s faces.
I see two different takes on the Fretwork-Bliss engagement in this strip. Alice, eager for flower-throwing action and focused on that. Mom Madeline world-weary and aware of past precedent. You can’t tie down a Banjo Man!
