Well, what are they supposed to do? The New York Times prints and distributes 600,000 newspapers every single day. And 1,000,000 on Sunday. I don’t know what the cost is, but it must be enormous.
What I donʻt get and wonʻt pay for is Paying full price on a story I read on my computer vs. getting a wad of paper every day. Digital: no printing press, everything pdf. No Ink. No paper. No typesetters. No printing press employees. No Trucks. No truck drivers. No Fuel bills. No distributor fees. No Seller fees. Drop the Subscription for digital to reflect THOSE savings and Iʻll buy in. I donʻt WANT a Print AND Digital subscription. I want digital ONLY. I donʻt mind paying my fair share for reporters and editors, but now Editors donʻt even EDIT. Somebody, not the reporter, needs to proofread!! Yikes.

Again, Scott makes the weird choice to put this speech in the mouth of an editor, instead of a corporate/hedge fund beancounter.
