Too bad you didn’t have some boy with you on the ice when you were a lot younger. He could have held your hand while you were skating and if you fell, you could have blamed him and then it wouldn’t have been your fault. Young Amanda would have approved.
It takes a lot of time and effort to have an athletic career…….just like it takes a lot of time and effort to have a career in drawing comics. Drawing comics is a lot easier on your body, though. I never did try rollerblading, although I did some ice skating. Yes, that ice is hard!
Ouch! That must have hurt in more ways than one. I got the same “support” when trying new things and failing miserably from my family. I was pretty good at most things even though I was big for my age and awkward. Sadly it’s those things you DIDN’T do well that you remember. I’m sure you were always great at drawing and had a good sense of humor though. I did, but never used it in my adult life.

I remember coming home from outdoor ice skating with frozen pants. The water melted when I got home.
