Ol’ Rexie used to hate those headphones. Now, after sitting through a few of Gene’s “sock hops,” Rex practically puts them on himself.

When someone wants to march to a different drummer, Gene’s instrument can’t be beat.

At home Gene can live and march to the beat of his own drum.

This comic got me to look something up, and I learned a little. I’ve been writing “straight-laced” all these years, but it turns out that “strait-laced” is correct. They get these things right on Ballard Street.

The dog is the smart one — has his ear plugs on.

Let’s think about this for a minute – imagine what is considered as being ‘strait-laced’ in the world of Ballard Street!

This is all part of his Gene therapy.

At the end of the day, Gene’s one remaining wild hair gets to be let down all the way, and come out to play.

Unfortunately for the neighbors, that hair usually wants to play the same song: Cream’s “Toad”.

The dog wishes he could anywhere but home when Gene is around.
