I’ll never forget the “Cone of Silence” in the “Get Smart” TV series. It made communication impossible.

It’s odd, but the Sibley’s dog, Lucky, has been under the impression that they are doing this in sympathy with him. He is stuck wearing one for the customary dog reasons, and he believes they are acting to make him feel more “one of the family” again. He’s quite devoted to them.
