Okay, did anyone actually stick that into the compound interest formula to see if that’s correct?
And come to think of it, how much silver is in a “piece”? Silver is an element, so would a molecule count? Although betraying someone for thirty molecules of silver really is setting the bar pretty low.

I don’t understand all the Judas hate. If Jesus had not been betrayed the he would not have been crucified or risen from the dead and the fairy tale basis of the religion would be even shakier.

I think inflation has averaged more than 1% over that time, so even after compounding interest it would actually be worth less now than it was then. He was paid in the Roman silver denarius which after 2,000 years of inflation is now the copper-plated zinc cent.
