As if you’d get hypothermia while indoors, Calvin.

Summer is over, Calvin. Accept it.

His father would probably discourage him from getting a sweater because of course “suffering from cold weather (all together now) builds character!” ;D

When I was cutting, hauling, splitting, stacking, re-hauling and burning wood to keep my big drafty home warm enough to live in, I wore sweaters inside. Occasionally even longjohns and a hat. Now that I’m retired with enough income to treat myself as well as we treat the wild birds, I just adjust the thermostat to a nice comfortable 68º. And I’m thinking about making it 69º or even (wicked grin, rubbing hands together) 70º

If Calvin, a 6 year old, knows and can correctly use words like “ectotherm, torpor, & sluggish”, then he must be learning something somewhere. If he has figured out how to learn about whatever captures his fancy NOW, then all Miss Wormwood’s efforts have not been in vain.

Well, it would appear that Calvin had sufficient energy to drag a chair over to the thermostat, but… Time to grow a winter coat, kid.

My mom’s advice would be for Calvin to help with the laundry or clean his room. With a young kid it was always a safe bet his room could use some sprucing up.

Mom probably spent the entire winter heating funds cleaning up your trail of destruction, Calvin!

This isn’t really a problem for us in south South Asia… more like the opposite!

If he put on a sweater, he’d look like Mister Rogers – which to Calvin is a fate worse than death…

Was pretty little when my younger sister said, “It’s cold.” So we went to Mom who said, “Oh, I can do this!” and fiddled a little thing on the wall. A little later it was warmer. A few days later, I felt cold, so I went to mom. “If you’re cold, put some more clothes on.” I realized I was not wearing much, so I went to my room and got a shirt and long pants. Wow, I could adjust for temperature with clothes! Amazing.

As I get older, I get colder. Now I realize that I’m becoming an ectotherm!

I want to see Calvin’s Mom re-enact the great dinosaur-killing asteroid strike.

Hey Everybody: Want to know what happens to Calvin when he grows up? I found this when doing some research on this comic. You will love it! The guy really channels Watterson quite well! https://imgur.com/gallery/tUzAL

It’s getting to be that time of year up here. I let the Mrs control the thermostat as long as she wears sweaters and long pants.

When I was Calvin’s age, I had never even heard the word “ectotherm”.

As an ECTOTHERM, his body relies on the ambient temperature to heat or cool himself.
