Could always use “advanced interrogation” techniques to ask Brister what he is up to.

Erm, wait. He’s setting a trap in a thicket, and then – Poof! – he’s lighting torches in a cave?

    Stealthy move, there, T-man.

The other secret is that this is the Bat Cave, and Batman is just ahead. How Tarzan went from Africa to Gotham City in the blink of an eye is a subject for another arc.

According to the interwebs: Flammable and inflammable do not mean the same thing. If something is flammable it means it can be set fire to, such as a piece of wood. However, inflammable means that a substance is capable of bursting into flames without the need for any ignition. … The opposite of both words is non-flammable.

So, he didn’t need a lighter, matches, or flint and steel, the inflammable sap spontaneously combusted.
