Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
This is what’s so prevalent in comics or cartoonish novels with pictures in them. Characters always have the same wardrobe no matter what day of the week, whether red and blue or black and white.
I always find it strange whenever someone always wears the same clothes all the time. I’ve always found it normal to dress differently every day. Does Nate really live in a kind of world where dressing differently is strange?
Purple shirt with green pants, looks like he was dressed by The Joker. If you’re going to put that much work into updating your look, fine, give a little extra effort and update everything.
It’s true! I picked a random date, way back in Sept 2012, and there’s the red shirt with the black dot.
Of course, for animated cartoons, it’s a cost-based decision: characters wearing the same clothes saves animation costs.
And with comic strips, it’s a time AND cost savings to just draw the same character the exact same way all the time ( I suspect this is why “Dilbert” switched all its characters to wear the same outfit).
A bonus effect is that characters become uniquely identified with their outfit, like, um, Dilbert’s curved tie—OK bad example, since it’s gone now. But Jughead’s cap and “S” sweater, any character in the Popeye Universe, Andy Capp, etc.
You know, I’m having a hard time coming up with live-action shows that have iconic costumes (aside from uniforms and suits)…maybe Ed Norton’s vest and hat from The Honeymooners…
Mrs Godfrey wears a black top and purple shirt, chad: back with smiley, Jenny: I think black top, Gina: pink shirt, spitsy: black with dog bone, me: rocking Nike’s shirt
