When I used to go visit my mother-in-law when my son was a toddler, I would sit down and immediately fall asleep. I trusted he would be watched over, so soon as I stopped moving ( and worrying)- I was out – zzzzz! – everytime.
Fortunately , she fully understood & thought it was funny.
We used to go to the movies. I trusted my parents to get the boys to bed and the boys to be willing to do as they were told. We couldn’t have afforded a sitter and the movies both. I’m not sure I stayed awake for the whole thing though. I don’t remember if it was a 5:00 or 7:00 but it was less expensive than 9:00. One of my grandsons refuses to go to sleep until after his mom gets home.

Everyone is “winning” in this scenario. The parents get some time alone and Meemaw gets to watch two of the best children ever.

This situation does get better than this with meemaw watching over the kids.

Sadly, when my kids came along, both sets of grandparents already were gone. I wish they both could have known their grandpas and grandmas.
And exhaustion … yes, I recall that. :^P
