I fell in the garage the other day, Got myself up……not bad for 81. But then again, I’m in great shape, Walk 3 miles a day . Never watch tv until 5:00 PM. Those “I can’t get up” ads are a joke, in several they are half sitting already.
Actually, it’s the second thing to do. First, find out their condition: conscious?, alert?, breathing?, bleeding?, in pain?. THEN call for help. Basic situation training (mostly what I mentioned) should be a part of the training for everyone who works with the public.

The store is probably worried about getting sued (again) for improperly moving someone who may have broken a hip.

That is not what she meant but that is exactly what a store employee must do because of the fear of lawsuits.
