I did all my end of month cleaning this week….finally finished Saturday and got both bathrooms done top to bottom. However, wow the vinegar today in the shower was really bothering me. First time that ever happened. Wondering if hubby over did the doors and walls with the shower cleaner we use. Will be sure next time to rinse the walls and shower doors before using it. Just happening to be finally done. However, I have a cleaned top to bottom bedroom, living room and kitchen/dining room all clean and sparkling and floors as my hubby likes to say we can eat off of. My mother taught me well and I am as fanatical as she was about it. Used to vacuum every day the whole apartment as we had 2 very large dogs, one a Lab and our Viszla who was an angel. But both shed a LOT.
With no dogs I get away with 2 times a week instead.
Luann’s bedroom looks like my sisters. Mine, like the rest of the house was immaculate. My mother closed my sister’s door. She’d go in periodically and read my sister the riot act on picking up and hanging up her clothes, and all the rest of the garbage in there, along with changing her sheets and putting on her bedspread. My mother nor I could understand why she was such a slob and where that gene came from. My father was a very clean and organized person. And I admit my mom, myself and my grandma were nutso with our cleaning. However the funniest thing I was told was the time my mom and grandma waxed the walls in the kitchen to make them shine. Well when it was time to paint they forget to mention that to my dad and grandpa and they started painting only to have it run down the wall. Well when they found out what my mom and grandma did they gave them both a rag and bucket and told them to wash the walls till all the wax was off.
My mother taught my sister and I how to clean starting at a very early age. My dad was in the army, was often away for long stretches of time (like Vietnam, Korea, etc) and she was a teacher and going to school to get her BA, while taking care of 2 kids, so she needed all the help she could get. We learned how to do everything. I even got to the point where I could iron my dad’s Class A uniform. :o) I vowed I would hire a cleaning service as soon as I could afford one. I HATE cleaning.

Nothing is quite a pick-me-up like a clarion call to head down to the mall!
