No point asking for a reason. It’s not like she knows why, for certain. Neither will you, the first time you have to say “No, thanks”. At best, she would make something up, not realizing you would think it was something you might change. When it’s over, it’s over – sometimes before it even begins. :)
OK, seriously, what teenage boy would be asking their father something like this? Good grief, I wouldn’t have. I’d have been teased about it for months! One learns early on to be careful with such sensitive questions and concerns.
