I hope more and more that Lottie will be able to make ends up her mother with this awesome sewerman. He would be a fantastic stepfather. Now even Mildred approves!
Where did the sewerman and his truck come from? Did he just happen to be at the Inner Marina when Mildred drove the stolen car there and Lottie ran to rescue Mildred?
Panel 2 is so full. Linton and Sonny in awe. Mildred delirious with joy and hormones, Jackie feeling crushed, again. And Sewerman being heroic. Too much.
“Wendlefield… I tried.” It’s a shame that Wendlefield is too poor to commission a statue of their own local hero. It would be truly impressive to see a statue of Miflin, sprawled out crucifix-style, face-down in a puddle of raw sewage. Tackleford’s Tommy Binks statue with the bleeding eyeballs has nothing on that!

Mildred, must you fly those hearts in front of poor Jack? Maybe it’s time to tidy up everything?

I would think it would be, “Any Sewerman worth his sh!t knows that if he ever has to step up, he’s always got one in the gun.”
