Yeah, you need to learn much more advanced physics before you have to start worrying about things like drain grates.

Nancy doesn’t see the danger? Isn’t she self-aware about being a cartoon? As a cartoon, she should know that she could be flattened by a giant fly swatter and then slip through those grates. A steam roller could come down the street…

    Some classic Fritzi:https://www.gocomics.com/nancy-classics/2019/11/06

I like how even under the circumstances, he is still able to give her the “comic startled take” expression.

If they are worried about falling through the grate, they just have to avoid looking down. They are cartoon characters after all.

Hah! Very cute. As for me, I used to worry not about falling through the grating itself…. but that the grating could not support my “heft”, be it poor design, rusted connections, etc.

Is Nance putting on a little weight? Her face seems heavier in today’s strip. But maybe it’s just the scarf.

I personally worry about losing stuff from my pockets or whatever. It doesn’t keep me from walking out on those gratings, though. I love seeing the ground or whatever way down there. One of the old industrial buildings by the High Falls here used to have a balcony with a grating for a floor, right about where Sam Patch built the platform he dived off of to his death in the 19th century. Deterioration of the structure eventually led them to remove it and block off the whole area it had been on.
