For the past 2-3 years, I’ve complained that the Sunday strips based on this “tablet across the sea” gag were just daily strip gags stretched out with useless filler to make a Sunday strip. I felt that it was lazy and cynical. I didn’t know then that they used to actually BE daily strips. They work better, in my opinion, as dailies: tighter and punchier.
