One of my dogs jumped straight up when she saw a worm on the sidewalk move.
Oh Koko, I know it`s sad, but it`s called the circle of life.
I always do that when I see them on the driveway.

What’s the problem, bird? Fly down and pick the thing up from atop the pile. Easier than pecking at a concrete sidewalk.
I recently read that worms usually only crawl out of the earth onto the sidewalk when the ground is too wet, which basically drowns them, as they breath through their skin. But they need to stay moist to survive…it’s not easy being a worm.
One dog’s rescue is another bird’s privation. Sigh!
