Baldo’s father just did what most parents do today. The “just get used to it” attitude will keep them in the not enough dilemma for the rest of their lives. After Vietnam I was heading for the not enough group. I decided I didn’t want to settle for not enough and looked around for the solution. I found the solution that would take me out of the “not enough” problem and did what it took to obtain the skills that were required. From then on, my paycheck was “more than enough”. My solution back then was to become an automation engineer. Today there are a myriad of solutions to the not enough problem. All you have to do is pick one and put forth the effort to learn the skills required.
For the forty years I worked I stashed away between 5 and 10 percent of every paycheck. We are now comfortably retired, living with our daughter and have no debt and no money.
Very disappointed in Sergio’s response “get used to it.” Doesn’t reflect his character at all, should of been something like, “stay in school, focus on college instead of your lowrider and maybe you’ll get a better job with bigger paychecks!” Not like him to just agree like that and accept that from Baldo. This comic is supposed to reflect latinos and people in general in succeeding, not settling. And whats up with the new artist too? Where’s the old big eyes artist?
During an interview John D. Rockefeller was asked: “How much money would a person have to have enough?” He answered: “Just a little more than what he has now.”
I think this whole week are reruns….this is copyright 2010 . I hope the “boys” are taking some time off to relax. But I do miss my Baldo in the morning.

True enough. No matter how well you do or how much you make, it will never be enough.

Looks like his son will look just like him, not a bad choice for a wife and at least no pigtails!

I’m glad I didn’t “get used to it” and instead used it as motivation to make decisions that would lead me to earn a paycheck that is enough.

Learning to live within one’s means is a valuable lesson……a lesson credit card companies do not want you to learn!
