I remember as a fourth grader in the 1950’s that our teacher was telling us about parallel and series circuits and how the OLD style Christmas lights were series circuits.
In the first strip I saw this gag it was funny. In the second strip I saw this gag it was cute. In the 3rd, 4th, etc., strip it’s become really annoying. Bah Humbug!
Yes they are rotating like tops to stay upright, and their lights go on simultaneously as they are facing you, sort of like gyroscope under a strobe light.

No longer true, the new ones dont do this. They light up even though one or two are out but still in their sockets.

These would to be the very old 16 volt 7-to-a-strand series set.

Gotta go with the parallel wired ones. Or, you know, LEDs.

It was probably truer in 2001 when this was copyrighted.

She must be older than she looks – those strings where one burning out turned the whole lot off haven’t been made in decades.

Apparently, bulbs can be recycled.
Nuke Road Warrior about 5 years ago
Ironic that the bulbs have to go out to get lit-up at the party.

This is an old one. I’ve had this saved for years. Still funny though.
