Does anyone else remember when the first “Star Wars” movie’s success caught toymakers with their pants down and Christmas of 1977 had Kenner selling certificates that had to be sent in to get your Star Wars toys whenever they were finally made?
The sickening thing is realizing that the same amount of time has passed from the prequels to now as passed between the original films and Lucas’ digitally enhanced re-releases.
I never got the hype for Star Wars. I’ve seen all the movies except #8, and the Han Solo standalone and not once have I been impressed. The Rise of the Skywalkers was an adequate final adventure but it seemed to be more interested in calling back to the past movies than in following any type of logical plot development. To me it felt like a repeat of #6 than its own movie.
