I was walking my dog just about sundown and as we passed a yard, the automatic timer kicked in and the inflatable Santa began to rise up….my dog just about had a heart attack.
I’ve seen bigger ones then that! Like twice that size. My favorite this season isn’t actually that large, it’s a small to mid size blowup of three Elves trying to get a tree home that is bigger then their car with two of them trying to hold it on the top. I’ve also seen one from “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
Trash day here in my part of NJ is usually Windy Wednesdays and crap seems to find its way into my yard. We are close to the river and the wind can yank Christmas blow up lawn decorations and hurtle them a hundred yards or more. I nearly lost a fence gate one year due to the sheer force of the snow globe motor slamming into my gate.
A great cartoon that made me actually laugh out loud!!! Those blow-up decorations inevitably fail. I can imagine this happening. It is a wonderfully funny horror movie.

I hollered over t’ Ethel, I said, “Don’t look, Ethel!” But it was too late, she’d already been incensed. -Ray Stevens’ “The Streak”

See “Jack Frost (1997)”… (and not the movie that came out a year later; both movies were mistaken for one another and couldn’t be more different)… :-P

It took a while for me to realize it was an inflatable snowman.

Shouldn’t Calvin be behind the bushes, with something to pry the moorings out of the ground?

Try not to be paranoid, but remember… he’ll be back again some day, some day; he’ll be back again some day.

I hate those things, for a few hours of a day they’re blown up, the rest of the scenes in daylight look TRASHY! Ugh. UGLY UGLY UGLY

The second panel is a cartooning masterpiece! The posture of the snowman and Janis leaning back on her heels completely cracked me up.
